The Case Study in the Financial Times 20^th March 2012 titled Investors for a social change, showed how advanced social enterprise investing is in the USA.

They are still working from an ethos of guilt and shame donations. The concept of paying interest and returning investment is alien to them. This funding has increasingly taken the form of quasi equity profit sharing and social impact junk bonds that may pay a return on success. Both show a lack of initiative and the difficulties of investing in organisations without equity.
