Movirtu wins Technology Foresight Award at World Communication Awards

London, 8 November 2011—Movirtu is delighted to announce that the Company has won the Dr. Alireza Mahmoodshahi Technology Foresight Award at the World Communications Awards ceremony, held in London on 7 November 2011.

The Award is for the organization that “has shown the greatest foresight in developing or fostering the development of a technology used…in delivering or receiving communications services via carrier networks.” Entrants were evaluated on the potential for their technology to have “far-reaching effect on markets, originality, and an innovative approach that opens up an entirely new area, and that the technology works.”

Movirtu receives this award for its award-winning MX portfolio of mobile identity management services, which includes MXShare/Cloud Phone (providing mobile identity to shared phone users at the base of the pyramid) and network infrastructure services such as ManyME, which allow mobile operators to give users better ways of managing their mobile identities across devices and networks.

“We are honoured and delighted to be the recipients of this award,” said Nigel Waller, Founder and CEO of Movirtu.  “Dr Mahmoodshahi spent his career helping carrier networks think about future needs in scalability and efficiency.  We are pleased that this award recognizes the growing importance of managing mobile identities as networks and devices become more interoperable and demand continues to grow around the world for more agile connectivity.”

Movirtu is bringing its award winning Cloud Phone™ mobile identity to key markets in Africa and South Asia both to allow networks to serve those on $1-$2 a day more cost effectively, and to allow high value users the freedom to manage multiple identities across devices.

Movirtu works with leading operators and leading NGOs to support both commercial and economic development goals for both the poorest and the most premium user segments.
